Given the amount of alternate routes and shortcuts in this game, I wouldn't be surprised if they included that route across the top of the trees on purpose.

I just did this on the remastered version and had to confirm that I wasn’t alone LOL, I might have to go back and do the level without shortcuts just for the experience haha

Nice. Well today I just did not know but I ended up doing this but a different way that I had no idea I was about to beat it. The 2 holes you jump in to get down to explore the stage the longer way well I had no idea how to get down since I was dying alot so I was thinking Jumping between the gap line in between those flesh wall was the way to go down since there is water. So I made it not knowing you can clip through it & land down there & beat the stage😂. So give it a try & see if it leads to a much faster way?

I know this is old vid but dayum that 2:45 skip was hard, but managed to do it.
